Hebron Lutheran Church recently welcomed a very special guest as historical interpreter Tom Pitz brought Thomas Jefferson to life during the congregation’s May 17 worship service. Community members and visitors gathered inside Hebron’s historic 1740 sanctuary to hear “Mr. Jefferson” reflect on religious liberty, early American history, and the founding principles that helped shape the nation. Pastor Jim Kniseley led an engaging interview that explored Jefferson’s views on faith, the Revolutionary era, and the Virginia Statute for Religious Freedom. The program offered a memorable opportunity to experience history in an intimate and meaningful setting. Guests especially appreciated hearing Jefferson’s words spoken within one of America’s oldest Lutheran church buildings, accompanied by the beauty and atmosphere of Hebron’s historic sanctuary. The congregation is deeply grateful to Mr. Pitz for his thoughtful and authentic portrayal. The event reflected Hebron’s ongoing commitment to preserving history, fostering learning, and welcoming the wider community through special programs and events. Below are photos and video highlights from this remarkable morning at Hebron Lutheran Church.
